A tale of mystery and horror not for the faint of heart...

When I saw these lovely candlesticks at an estate sale this summer, I just had to have them! The combination of the opal glass with the pretty pink foot and applied handles was just so appealing. Who would have guessed that these dainty, innocent looking candlesticks would hold a deep dark secret? |
|
I brought them home so pleased with my purchase, not realizing what was to be revealed later that night....

Once it had gotten dark I pulled out my blacklight to check some other pieces of glass I had also bought that day. That's when I noticed it. At first I couldn't quite wrap my mind around what I was seeing. I stared with shock and disbelief until the meaning of that glowing yellow line finally sank in...SOMEONE HAD BEHEADED THESE CANDLESTICKS!!!!!!!

(line looks purple in photo due to limitations of the camera)
As I worked up the courage to look more closely, I discovered that the story got even worse. It looked like these two had not even started out life as candlesticks!!! Feeling slightly sick and wondering who could do such an unnatural thing, I began to piece together the story.
These two had started out life, as all beautiful pieces of glass start out, fresh from the mold and unaware of the dangers that lurk out in the world. Then at some time in their tender young lives they fell into the wrong hands and were...ALTERED!

Something was removed, something was added, obliterating what they had been and turning them instead, into candlesticks. What villain, what crazed madman could have done such a thing? We may never know. Nor may we ever know what these two pieces of glass looked like before he perpetrated this crime against nature! |
But life goes on and it is time for these two hapless candlesticks to find a new home where they will be loved and nurtured. Perhaps with time they will adjust to their new roles in life and be able to lead productive lives. They are each 4.75" tall and both have had the top section glued on (and rather crookedly at that). There is a crack in the top section of one, but it doesn't go all the way through and the glass is still sound. These two poor creatures can still be a wonderful addition to your collection!

Please open your heart to these candlesticks and give them a place in your home!
